Medical equipment models we build

KiwiMill builds models of medical equipment and devices for manufacturers' trade show and sales teams: CT scanners, MRI systems, linear accelerators, C-arm and dental X-ray units, lab automation, and orthopedic implants.

Big systems shrink to tabletop size (a 1/4 scale MRI with a detachable patient table packs down for travel), and small devices grow, with hip, knee, shoulder, and spine implants built three to five times life size so a booth visitor can see the surface finish and how the parts fit together. Models can move and light up, like a C-arm whose lift, arm rotation, and LED X-ray emitter run from a wireless foot pedal and handheld remote.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a medical model cost?

Models typically start around $6,000. Multi-model projects often run $10,000 and up. For medical work, price depends on size, the finishes needed (chrome, clear, or textured surfaces), any motion or remote control, and whether you need a matched set, such as hip, knee, and shoulder implants. A quote is free.

Can you make a small device big enough to see across the booth?

Yes. We've built a blood separator six times life size, with clear acrylic and clear 3D printed parts so you can follow the path inside, and a dental X-ray sensor thirteen times life size. Implant models can be modular, with parts that nest together or attach with magnets, so a rep can take them apart in front of a customer.

Can the model show how the system moves around a patient?

Yes. Our C-arm X-ray model raises, lowers, and rotates its arm on command from a wireless foot pedal and remote, with a blinking LED as the emitter. We've also built a gene sequencing lab model showing a robotic arm moving samples from machine to machine.

How close can you get to the real finish?

Very close. We've used vacuum-metalized chrome and clear coat to match polished implant surfaces, built up texture on a shoulder cup to resemble the real product, used brushed stainless steel for a mobile cleanroom interior, and layered paint colors and textures on an MRI to match its housing.
