Rice Plantation Museum Model
This rice plantation model was built for the International African American Museum in Charleston, SC. It was built in 1:87 scale.
The model shows the seasonal changes of rice tidal fields in the late 1700s and how the fields were worked. A portion of the model shows the hand-processing by slaves of the rice and includes various dioramas of slaves working on the plantation.
Each of the slave figure models was hand edited by our in-house design gurus allowing this model to depict the people working in the fields, processing the rice, and going about their daily lives on the plantation. This gives the model a realism that is missing in a lot of dioramas that use off-the-shelf, stock figures.
