Cutaway Design Popular with Industrial Models

Recently we completed another industrial model with cutaway features. Cutaways are artificial slices made through a product, revealing inner features that are otherwise hidden from view.

Scale models offer a unique opportunity to take a real product, replicate it, but also add interest and additional information by splicing it open. A well done cutaway model can do this without taking away from the overall design of the product.

This water cooler cutaway model has a corner sliced off to show a small portion of the fin and tube configuration of the inside. In addition, both ends are removable via magnets, adding modularity to the model.
